Northern Virginia Science Center (Children’s Science Center)The Northern Virginia Science Center Foundation, the Children’s Science Center Lab, is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization and interactive museum where children, families, and school groups can explore science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) concepts through fun, engaging hands-on exhibits, activities, and programs. We serve guests at the Children’s Science Center Lab at Fair Oaks Mall and through our community programs delivered to schools, libraries, and STEM festivals across Northern Virginia. The Foundation is also developing the Northern Virginia Science Center in Dulles, VA, a world-class, interactive regional science center for families, students, and learners of all ages made possible through a pivotal public-private partnership. Northern Virginia Soil and Water Conservation DistrictFounded in 1945 by citizens concerned about conserving natural resources, the Northern Virginia Soil and Water Conservation District is now one of 47 conservation districts in Virginia and approximately 3,000 nationwide. NVSWCD is a political subdivision of the Commonwealth of Virginia, governed by a five-member Board of Directors. Its boundaries are the same as those of Fairfax County, home to over 1.2 million people. NVSWCD is a locally-led conservation agency with a long history of responding to Fairfax County’s changing rural to the urban landscape, transitioning programs based on identified needs. NVSWCD is valued for its leadership in using new and emerging techniques to address traditional issues and modern challenges. NVSWCD collaborates with Fairfax County and other partners to provide conservation information, technical services, educational programs, and volunteer opportunities to residents on many aspects of water quality, non-point source pollution, and stream health. |

Friends of Guest HouseFriends of Guest House helps women successfully reenter the community from incarceration. Since our founding in 1974, Guest House has helped more than 4,000 women break the vicious cycle of incarceration, reunite with their families, and reintegrate into their communities. Guest House serves our clients through our core programs: the Residential-to-Aftercare program continuum, Workforce & Life Development Program, or the non-residential Outreach Program. |

Second StorySecond Story assists our local youth and their families by offering both short- and long-term support across four main program areas. Second Story for Teens in Crisis provides safe havens, around-the-clock support, individual therapy, and family counseling for youth ages 13 to 17. Second Story for Young Mothers provides housing and support for pregnant and/or parenting young women experiencing homelessness. Second Story for Homeless Youth provides housing and support for youth experiencing homelessness. Second Story in the Community offers after-school support to children and teens and drop-in services, food, and other resources for families in the community. |
