Just Neighbors 

Just Neighbors provides high-quality immigration legal services to low-income immigrants, asylees, and refugees in Washington, DC, Maryland, and Virginia; and builds community among clients, staff, volunteers, and the larger society through education, advocacy, and volunteerism.

 

Northern Virginia Science Center (Children’s Science Center) 

The Northern Virginia Science Center Foundation, the Children’s Science Center Lab, is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization and interactive museum where children, families, and school groups can explore science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) concepts through fun, engaging hands-on exhibits, activities, and programs. We serve guests at the Children’s Science Center Lab at Fair Oaks Mall and through our community programs delivered to schools, libraries, and STEM festivals across Northern Virginia. The Foundation is also developing the Northern Virginia Science Center in Dulles, VA, a world-class, interactive regional science center for families, students, and learners of all ages made possible through a pivotal public-private partnership. Northern Virginia Soil and Water Conservation District 

Founded in 1945 by citizens concerned about conserving natural resources, the Northern Virginia Soil and Water Conservation District is now one of 47 conservation districts in Virginia and approximately 3,000 nationwide. NVSWCD is a political subdivision of the Commonwealth of Virginia, governed by a five-member Board of Directors. Its boundaries are the same as those of Fairfax County, home to over 1.2 million people. NVSWCD is a locally-led conservation agency with a long history of responding to Fairfax County’s changing rural to the urban landscape, transitioning programs based on identified needs. NVSWCD is valued for its leadership in using new and emerging techniques to address traditional issues and modern challenges.

NVSWCD collaborates with Fairfax County and other partners to provide conservation information, technical services, educational programs, and volunteer opportunities to residents on many aspects of water quality, non-point source pollution, and stream health.

Britepaths

Britepaths is a dedicated leader in developing sustainable solutions that stabilize low-income working families, build resilience through financial literacy and workforce development, and provide support for children. Britepaths' mission is to provide our Fairfax County area neighbors in need with short-term safety-net services and empower them to work toward long-term self-sufficiency.

Friends of Guest House 

Friends of Guest House helps women successfully reenter the community from incarceration. Since our founding in 1974, Guest House has helped more than 4,000 women break the vicious cycle of incarceration, reunite with their families, and reintegrate into their communities. Guest House serves our clients through our core programs: the Residential-to-Aftercare program continuum, Workforce & Life Development Program, or the non-residential Outreach Program. 

Second Story

Second Story assists our local youth and their families by offering both short- and long-term support across four main program areas. Second Story for Teens in Crisis provides safe havens, around-the-clock support, individual therapy, and family counseling for youth ages 13 to 17. Second Story for Young Mothers provides housing and support for pregnant and/or parenting young women experiencing homelessness. Second Story for Homeless Youth provides housing and support for youth experiencing homelessness. Second Story in the Community offers after-school support to children and teens and drop-in services, food, and other resources for families in the community.

Patriot Pantry, George Mason University 

The Patriot Pantry is housed under the Student Support and Advocacy Center (SSAC) in the Division of University Life at George Mason University. The Patriot Pantry provides access to non-perishable food and hygiene items to George Mason University students who are experiencing food insecurity.

Fundacion Pro Cancer La Ceiba

Fundacion Pro Cancer La Ceiba is based in La Ceiba, Honduras is focused on providing timely detection and treatment of cancer on the Atlantic Coast and the country, through integrative programs towards patient care, research and prevention.

Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) at George Mason University

Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) at George Mason University provides in-person and virtual, free and confidential, mental health services for enrolled students.  When a student’s needs require a different level of care, CAPS works with students to transition care to community providers. 

Insight Memory Care Center

Insight Memory Care Center is a nonprofit providing quality memory and cognitive care for families living with dementia. They do this through specialized day programs for individuals living with memory and cognitive impairments, support for care partners and families, and education and engagement opportunities for the wider community. 

Catholic Charities

Catholic Charities is the charitable arm of the Catholic Diocese of Arlington and serves all those in need who live within the Diocese. Today, Catholic Charities, Diocese of Arlington, serving as the charitable arm of the Diocese, feeds the hungry, heals the sick, cares for the elderly and houses the homeless through 21 programs within 21 counties and seven cities. Its work depends on a dedicated staff and collaboration with partner parishes and parishioners, a broad volunteer network, and generous donors who support the mission.

The Office of Sustainability at George Mason University 

The Office of Sustainability at George Mason University is committed Mason to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050. They use the strengths of George Mason University – innovation, responsiveness, flexibility, and community strength – to provide leadership in environmental, social, and economic stewardship on our campuses and throughout the local and global communities of which we are a part.

Greenhouse and Gardens Program 

The Greenhouse and Gardens Program is housed under the Office of Sustainability at George Mason University. The Greenhouse & Gardens Program maintains and fosters nourishing spaces on-campus for the community by offering transformational experiences that teach about and create sustainable food systems and ecological restoration.

Center for Culture, Equity, and Empowerment at George Mason University

The Center for Culture, Equity, and Empowerment at George Mason University is committed to eradicating oppression in all its forms and in collaboration with University colleagues and stakeholders to co-create an equitable campus climate and society by providing intersectional programs, services, and support that elevates consciousness rooted in culture, healing, and liberation.

 

Northern Virginia Family Service (NVFS)

Northern Virginia Family Service (NVFS) helps families and individuals in need create stability and self-sufficiency with a wide range of critical services. Northern Virginia Family Service’s (NVFS) breadth, depth and scope of services offer the resources and support to ensure that everyone in need, at every stage of life, maximizes their potential and fully contributes to a thriving community. They provide the essential building blocks for financial, emotional and physical well-being, serving as leaders and innovators for the Northern Virginia community.

 

VoteRiders

VoteRiders is a non-partisan, non-profit organization with a mission to ensure that all citizens are able to exercise their freedom to vote. VoteRiders informs and helps citizens to secure their voter ID as well as inspires and supports organizations, local volunteers, and communities to sustain voter ID education and assistance efforts.

Community Services Board 

The Fairfax-Falls Church Community Services Board provides services for people of all ages who have mental illness, substance use disorders and/or developmental disabilities.

Volunteer Fairfax

Volunteer Fairfax mobilizes people and resources to meet regional community needs. They achieve their mission through a variety of programs, special events, and services. Through these activities, Volunteer Fairfax strengthens the capacity of local nonprofits, connects for-profit resources to community needs, matches volunteers to meaningful service, supports government programs, and hosts family-friendly volunteer opportunities.
