Requirements and Application Process
Our requirements for students wishing to become Civic Fellows are:

Students must be in good academic standing with George Mason;

Commit to 8-10 hours of service at their partner site;

Commit to attending bi-weekly meetings of the Civic Fellows program and participating in any activities of the program;

Attend Civic Fellows Orientation
Our application process for students is:

First Round: The Application

Application will be placed on August 1st via Handshake;
-
Students will submit their résumés and complete a Student Information Form
-
The application will close on August 31st
-
On September 1st, chosen applicants will be emailed a sign-up link for two days of interviews with Community Partners

Second Round: The Interviews
-
Interviews will take place on September 11th and 12th via Zoom
-
This is the time, as a potential Fellow, to ask organizations about partner expectations, tasks, location, and other questions that come to mind

Following interviews, students will note their top 3 Partner choices

Selection
-
The first round of students will be notified about their Community Partner matches by September 19th. The second round of students will be contacted on September 24
-
Our mandatory 2025 Civic Fellow Orientation will be on October 3rd
-
Lastly, October 5th is when Placements begin

Other Requirements
Other important points about working as a Fellow and applying:

Students can participate in the program with their VISA status in consideration

Background checks are required for some sites

Must be taking a class in the summer to be eligible for aid
