Alexandria Mentoring Program
The Alexandria Mentoring Partnership (AMP), formed in 2006, is comprised of a variety of local mentoring programs with the shared mission of ensuring that quality mentors and mentoring programs are available for Alexandria's youth and young adults in need. With guidance and resources from the MENTOR National, AMP works to maximize mentor recruitment, screening, and training, and ensure best practice programs.
Bethany House of NoVA
Bethany House of Northern Virginia is a Christian ministry located in Fairfax County, Virginia, providing short-term housing and life advancement services to women and children escaping domestic violence. We provide women with safe, restorative care while giving them the support and resources they need to transition into independent lives free from abuse. BHNV is funded by grants and donations from businesses, charitable foundations, churches, organizations, and individual community members.
Catholic Charities
Catholic Charities is the charitable arm of the Catholic Diocese of Arlington and serves all those in need who live within the Diocese. Today, Catholic Charities, Diocese of Arlington, serving as the charitable arm of the Diocese, feeds the hungry, heals the sick, cares for the elderly and houses the homeless through 21 programs within 21 counties and seven cities. Its work depends on a dedicated staff and collaboration with partner parishes and parishioners, a broad volunteer network, and generous donors who support the mission.
CCEE at George Mason University
The Center for Culture, Equity, and Empowerment at George Mason University is committed to eradicating oppression in all its forms and in collaboration with University colleagues and stakeholders to co-create an equitable campus climate and society by providing intersectional programs, services, and support that elevates consciousness rooted in culture, healing, and liberation.
FFX-Falls Church Community Services Board
The Fairfax-Falls Church Community Services Board provides services for people of all ages who have mental illness, substance use disorders and/or developmental disabilities.
Counseling & Psychological Services at GMU (CAPS)
Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) at George Mason University provides in-person and virtual, free and confidential, mental health services for enrolled students. When a student’s needs require a different level of care, CAPS works with students to transition care to community providers.
Creative & Performing Arts Center (CAPAC)
The Creative and Performing Arts Center (CAPAC) is a non-profit that provides underrepresented black and brown youth and adults with educational opportunities in theater and in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) disciplines to promote problem-solving, collaboration, and leadership skills.
Food for Others
Food for Other's mission is to distribute food to our neighbors in need by mobilizing our giving community and volunteers. Since 1995, Food for Others has been helping many families that have to choose between spending money for food or on other basic needs. Food for Others is an important part of Northern Virginia’s safety net for those needing food when an emergency strikes and for the growing number of working poor who need to supplement their inadequate food supplies.
Food for Others obtains much of its food through food rescue operations and food drives. Staff and volunteers pick up good food that would have been discarded by local grocery stores and other retail food establishments. The food is brought to the warehouse for temporary storage, including refrigeration as appropriate. Food drives provide the majority of our non-perishable food.
Friends of Guest House
Friends of Guest House helps women successfully reenter the community from incarceration. Since our founding in 1974, Guest House has helped more than 4,000 women break the vicious cycle of incarceration, reunite with their families, and reintegrate into their communities. Guest House serves our clients through our core programs: the Residential-to-Aftercare program continuum, Workforce & Life Development Program, or the non-residential Outreach Program.

Fundación Pro Cáncer La Ceiba is based in La Ceiba, Honduras is focused on providing timely detection and treatment of cancer on the Atlantic Coast and the country, through integrative programs towards patient care, research and prevention.

Insight Memory Care Center is a nonprofit providing quality memory and cognitive care for families living with dementia. They do this through specialized day programs for individuals living with memory and cognitive impairments, support for care partners and families, and education and engagement opportunities for the wider community.

Just Neighbors provides high-quality immigration legal services to low-income immigrants, asylees, and refugees in Washington, DC, Maryland, and Virginia; and builds community among clients, staff, volunteers, and the larger society through education, advocacy, and volunteerism.

NoVA Food Rescue
NoVA Food Rescue is a nonprofit that was created in 2019 to provide crisis and human services for the Northern Virginia region. Food rescue, food access, food resiliency, the Community Feeding Taskforce, and the Disaster Response Support are NoVA Food Rescue’s programs for this region.
NoVA Science Center (Children’s Science Center)
The Northern Virginia Science Center Foundation, the Children’s Science Center Lab, is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization and interactive museum where children, families, and school groups can explore science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) concepts through fun, engaging hands-on exhibits, activities, and programs. We serve guests at the Children’s Science Center Lab at Fair Oaks Mall and through our community programs delivered to schools, libraries, and STEM festivals across Northern Virginia. NoVA Soil & Water Conservation District
Founded in 1945 by citizens concerned about conserving natural resources, the Northern Virginia Soil and Water Conservation District is now one of 47 conservation districts in Virginia and approximately 3,000 nationwide. NVSWCD is a political subdivision of the Commonwealth of Virginia, governed by a five-member Board of Directors. Its boundaries are the same as those of Fairfax County, home to over 1.2 million people. NVSWCD is a locally-led conservation agency with a long history of responding to Fairfax County’s changing rural to the urban landscape, transitioning programs based on identified needs. NVSWCD is valued for its leadership in using new and emerging techniques to address traditional issues and modern challenges.
NVSWCD collaborates with Fairfax County and other partners to provide conservation information, technical services, educational programs, and volunteer opportunities to residents on many aspects of water quality, non-point source pollution, and stream health.

The Office of Sustainability at George Mason University is committed Mason to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050. They use the strengths of George Mason University – innovation, responsiveness, flexibility, and community strength – to provide leadership in environmental, social, and economic stewardship on our campuses and throughout the local and global communities of which we are a part.
- Greenhouse and Gardens Program
- The Greenhouse and Gardens Program is housed under the Office of Sustainability at George Mason University. The Greenhouse & Gardens Program maintains and fosters nourishing spaces on-campus for the community by offering transformational experiences that teach about and create sustainable food systems and ecological restoration.
- Mason EcoReps
- A program under University Sustainability, Mason EcoReps provides a way for employees and residential students to serve as the EcoRep for their department, college, or residence hall, connecting them with green initiatives. his program will identify, support, and highlight EcoReps who promote sustainable lifestyles, sustainable mindsets, and collective action around campus.
- ZeroWaste
- A program under University Sustainability, ZeroWaste Mason advances waste reduction strategies, support community-based zero waste initiatives, and collaborate with campus stakeholders to institutionalize zero waste action at Mason.
- Currently, Mason diverts 21% of campus waste away from trash incineration through reuse, composting, and recycling. However, a significant portion of our waste is still processed as trash and transported to Covanta Fairfax’s waste-to-energy incinerator in Lorton, VA. We know that waste incineration releases harmful emissions that negatively impact the health of local communities surrounding incineration facilities through increased pollution. Recognizing the environmental and social impacts of waste incineration, Mason must pivot to reuse and waste reduction, while keeping all recyclable and compostable materials out of the trash!
Patriot Pantry
The Patriot Pantry is housed under the Student Support and Advocacy Center (SSAC) in the Division of University Life at George Mason University. The Patriot Pantry provides access to non-perishable food and hygiene items to George Mason University students who are experiencing food insecurity.
Second Story
Second Story assists our local youth and their families by offering both short- and long-term support across four main program areas. Second Story for Teens in Crisis provides safe havens, around-the-clock support, individual therapy, and family counseling for youth ages 13 to 17. Second Story for Young Mothers provides housing and support for pregnant and/or parenting young women experiencing homelessness. Second Story for Homeless Youth provides housing and support for youth experiencing homelessness. Second Story in the Community offers after-school support to children and teens and drop-in services, food, and other resources for families in the community.
Volunteer Fairfax
Volunteer Fairfax mobilizes people and resources to meet regional community needs. They achieve their mission through a variety of programs, special events, and services. Through these activities, Volunteer Fairfax strengthens the capacity of local nonprofits, connects for-profit resources to community needs, matches volunteers to meaningful service, supports government programs, and hosts family-friendly volunteer opportunities.
VoteRiders
VoteRiders is a non-partisan, non-profit organization with a mission to ensure that all citizens are able to exercise their freedom to vote. VoteRiders informs and helps citizens to secure their voter ID as well as inspires and supports organizations, local volunteers, and communities to sustain voter ID education and assistance efforts.
